Bob Hickmott is Senior Vice President at The Smith-Free Group and has worked with the firm since 1999. Prior to his work at The Smith-Free Group, Bob served from 1997 to 1999 as Counselor to U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Andrew Cuomo, where he was the Senior Advisor to the Secretary on Intergovernmental Relations and External Constituencies. Bob was also a member of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development and Vice President Al Gore’s Brownfields Showcase Communities Selection Committee. Before HUD, Bob served for four years as Associate Administrator for Congressional Affairs for Environmental Protections Agency (EPA) Administrator Carol M. Browner. Bob was also the principal advisor on all congressional and legislative issues and helped to develop and implement the Clinton Administration’s environmental agenda, including on Superfund, Clean Water Act, and Brownfields. Prior to joining the Clinton Administration, he was the Deputy Executive Director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Prior to this, Bob served as Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Timothy E. Wirth (D-CO), working on banking and securities issues from 1987 to 1989.
