Jon Deuser is President and CEO of The Smith-Free Group and has almost 30 years of experience working in and around the U.S. Federal Government in Washington, D.C. At Smith-Free, Jon assists clients on a wide variety of issues at the Federal level of government, including financial services, tax, and trade matters. Prior to joining The Smith-Free Group in 2005, Jon served for 14 years on Capitol Hill. From 1993 to 2005, Jon served as Chief of Staff for former U.S. Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) as well as a Legislative Assistant and Legislative Director for Bunning when he served in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Congressman. In these capacities, Jon was responsible for managing the legislative and press staff as well as focused on healthcare, tax, trade, and financial services issues. Jon managed and formulated policies for Senator Bunning’s U.S. Senate campaigns in 1998 and 2004. Prior to this, Jon served as a Personal Assistant and Legislative Aide for U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for two years. Jon holds his J.D. from University of Virginia Law School.
