Steven Okun is a recognized expert working in the Asia-Pacific region at the nexus of business, policy, ESG, sustainability and stakeholder engagement to understand the complexities of international markets and navigate the strategic and operational challenges they face around the globe. Steve founded APAC Advisors in 2017, for which he serves as CEO. Steve also serves as the Emerging Market Private Equity Association’s (EMPEA) Southeast Asia Senior Advisor and is a member of its global ESG and SDG Communities. He recently became Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce of Asia Pacific, an umbrella organization of 25 American Chambers of Commerce that promotes trade and investment between the Asia Pacific region and the United States.  Steve also serves as a Senior Advisor for geostrategic consultancy McLarty Associates.

Living in Singapore since 2003, Steve created strategies and led public affairs for UPS (2003-2010) and KKR (2011-2017). While at KKR, Steve supported portfolio company efforts to improve their ESG-related performance and also served as KKR Asia’s key public spokesperson with regard to ESG. Additionally, he created and led KKR’s award-winning impact investing pro bono initiative, a model for strategic philanthropic engagement. He served four terms as a Governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, including as its Chair. Steve previously served in the Clinton Administration as Deputy General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Transportation. An in-demand speaker, he appears frequently in interviews in the global media and also writes commentary for The Straits Times.
