Joseph Gibson is Principal of the Gibson Group and has worked in and around Congress since 1982. Mr. Gibson has advised members on antitrust, intellectual property, mergers, tort reform, bankruptcy, federal preemption of state laws, telecommunications, health care, and numerous other complex business policy issues. Mr. Gibson has worked on numerous major antitrust and intellectual property issues before Congress for the last 25 years. Mr. Gibson served on the staffs of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees for over a decade, last serving as the Chief Minority Counsel to the House Judiciary Committee under former Chairman Lamar Smith (R TX-21). Mr. Gibson also served as the House Judiciary Committee’s Chief Legislative Counsel and as its Chief Antitrust Counsel. He also worked in the U.S. Department of Justice during the Bush Administration as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs and as an adviser to the Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division.
