Ken Kies is Managing Director of the Federal Policy Group, LLC, providing sophisticated strategy and technical tax advice to a range of clients on tax policy matters before the U.S. Congress, Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service, and the OECD. Mr. Kies has delivered significant legislative and regulatory results for major corporations, trade associations, and coalitions of companies with common objectives, including efforts to enact legislation responding to the World Trade Organization’s ruling against U.S. foreign sales corporation benefits, to avert enactment of broad “corporate tax shelter” legislation, and to reverse Treasury regulations targeting “hybrid” arrangements of U.S. multinational corporations, among other projects. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kies served as the Chief of Staff to the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, where he was responsible for developing and analyzing all tax legislation for the House Ways and Means Committee, the Senate Finance Committee, and other committees. He also earlier served as Chief Republican Tax Counsel to the House Ways and Means Committee. Ken has also served as the Co-Managing Partner of the Washington National Tax Services office of PricewaterhouseCoopers and firmwide Chair of the Tax Practice for BakerHostetler. Ken Kies is a graduate of Ohio University, the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, and the Georgetown University Law School with a L.L.M degree in taxation.
